Voitek Konrad Kalani Stewart

Okay, so I guess I should finally update my blog about our adorable little boy. It all started Tuesday night Dec 21, I started to have contraction, I wasn't sure if they were contractions, but they started to get closer together. I deiced to call my good friend Leia to come pick me up (at 12:30am Dec 22) to go to the hospital, since David was at work till 7:30am. We get to the hospital and yes I was having contractions so they told me to get up and walk around for an hour to see if I would dilate at all, so I did. Well I dilated so they decided to keep me in since I was going to be induced on Thursday Dec 23. Well they hooked me all up to iv and all the monitors and I decided to send Leia home at 3:30am since I knew David would be there in the morning.

Well David showed up at 8:30am and my contractions had stopped, and then they would start again, and then they would stop, it happened a few times, so they put me on some kind of drug to keep them going, well that didn't work. anyways I loved the nurses we had, my favourite was Eliza, as she was leaving her shift at 6pm on Dec 22, she told me to wait until 6am on Dec 23 to have my baby. I told her I would try. Well She came back in at 6am and still no baby. I was dilated to about a 5 or 7 at that time and said they would break my water around 10am. I had my epidural at 8am and the doctor came in around 11:55am to break my water. Well I started to feel my contractions around 2 ish and then after 36 hours Tek arrived at 3:48pm, weighing 7lbs 8oz and measured 20inchs long. He came out not crying, he would just grunt and then he was limp still after 45 minutes, there was no oxygen getting to his limbs. So that is when they decided he needed to get an x-ray. When they took they x-ray they noticed he had oxygen in his chest cavity and he had a hole in his lung or another name would be his lung was collapsed. In our small town of 4000 people we don't have the resources to treat him, so he had to be air vacced to Tucson.

I was able to go in to the nursery and wait for the air ambulance to show up, even though every time I would open my eye and lift up my head I would get sick, so all I could do was touch his foot. They air ambulance show up at 6:30pm and got him all ready to go, they took me back to my room as I waited for them to finish getting him all ready to go. David and I were not able to go with him. They left at around 8:30. I was released the next day, so we could drive up to Tucson to be with Tek. We arrived around 4pm and they said he was doing much better, though out the day he got better and better. I know it was from all the prayers and thoughts that were being said for our little boy. On Sunday Dec 26 we were finally able to go home, his lung was completely better and he was doing great with eating.

We are so excited we are home now, he is a great baby, he sleeps for 3-4 hour stints at night, and eats about every 2-3 hours. He is a really good baby. And he loves his daddy and daddy sure does love him. He will burp really good for David and will fall a sleep really well for him. This morning all he wanted to do was play and I told him No. And then Daddy woke up to get ready for work and David took him burped him and he fell right to sleep. David gave him back to me and he was fine until David walked out of the house and he started to cry. They only way he was finally fall a sleep in laying on my chest. But he did finally go to sleep. I love my little boy, I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present this year. So welcome to our little Family Tek.

Thanks again for all the support, and prayers that were said for our little family over the last week, We know they were answered, and we could feel the love as we were in Tucson. I hope that was a good enough update for you guys. We Love you all and we can't wait for you all to meet our little Tek :D

Love the Stewarts.

  2. Dian I am so happy that Tek healed up quickly so that you could all be home together. Gavin was looking at the pictures of Tek in the hospital with me and he is sure that they are of him. Those were probably the longest days you have ever felt. Modern medicine and great doctors are such a miracle. Congrats Momma!
